I loved the juxtaposition of old and new in this… fucking genious. lol

So I finally got to see the Wizard of Oz in 1080p, right?… I actually hadn’t seen the whole movie in one shot, and I was looking forward to catching the whole thing… so I put on my glasses and I sat down with some chocolate chip cookies and milk, put the movie on and first impression was… wow… sepia (black and brown). lol Then I was like… duh, like in the Simpsons movie, the aspect will change from 4:3 to 16:9, just like color will return to it… that was the awesome gimmick they pulled off ‘cause back then there weren’t color movies and the whole thing’s going to be magical! Not so much, not so fast… well, like a long time passed and the novelty kinda wore off… then when they made the transition, the aspect ratio was still 4:3, so I was “forced” to zoom in 23%, which in itself wasn’t that big a deal, but like I said, I hadn’t seen it before so I didn’t know it wasn’t widescreen. lol Strangely enough, it translated beautifully and I was happy… by this time my cookies are GONE and well… I’m actually getting kinda bored, but I tough it out… then I’m like… well, I’ve seen “Somewhere Over the” who cares… I’m skipping thru the dialogue, no fun special effects, nothing new… um… cool, the end. And after that I was like… cool, now I can say I’ve seen it and I don’t really care for it. lol Was it worth it?… meh. But I can see how a bunch of people can be totally into it. The actual package has LOTS of shit in it… extras, sing-alongs, sheets of paper, more and more paper, a watch, receipts, crazy unnecessary info and what not… if you’re a huge fan, yeah I see the point, but I just thought it was just cutesy. As far as video quality, they’re really beating a dead horse here… it doesn’t get ANY better by upscaling the old film. :( [HD review here] and I could in all honesty say if I hadn’t zoomed in, I could’ve seen a regular upscaled dvd and bluray side to side and not notice the difference, but since I decided to zoom in, yeah… it was nice seeing the original detail. They did hike up the contrast tho… so a lot of the black-on-black detail was lost, but hey, who gives a rat’s ass? It’s still a tedious classic movie. Woohoo!

The Danes are consistently ranked as the happiest people on earth and Oprah recently visited them to find out why. (Maybe the one thing money can’t buy is being a Dane citizen?) lol lol lol One thing’s for sure - they certainly don’t need a lot of space to have a happy, organized home. She toured the home of a family of five and was gobsmacked by the small size of the children’s bedroom.

Although she calls this a typical home, we’d be surprised if all Danes live in architectural beauties like this one. Besides the small kids’ room, the family has a petite fridge (they most likely get fresh food from the market several times a week) and their home is clean and amazingly uncluttered. [video link]
